Before your program can access the data in an input file or place data in an output file you must make the file available to the program by OPENING it.

When you open a file you have to indicate to the system SO THAT THE SYSTEM CAN MANAGE THE FILE CORRECTLY.

Opening a file does not transfer any data to the record buffer,it simply provides access.

Synatx:

OPEN {INPUT or OUTPUT or I-O or EXTEND}  { filename-1}.........

{INPUT or OUTPUT or I-O or EXTEND}   {filename-2}........

OPEN INPUT DATA-1-FILE DATA -2-FILE

OUTPUT NEW-DATA -FILE

:

:

CLOSE DATA-1-FILE DATA-2-FILE NEW-DATA-FILE.

Java & J2EE

Written by VR Wednesday, 22 June 2011 09:57

When the MONMSG command is coded immediately after another command the MONMSG applies to that command only.

DLFT work 1

MONMSG cpf2105

DLFT work2

The first DLTF has a command-Level MONMSG.If the file WORK 1 doesn't exist the procedure continues.Because the MONMSG statement has no EXEC parameter, the procedure takes no special action.

The second DLTF  command has no MONMSG after it.If file WORK2 doesn't exist the CL procedure is interrupted unless there's a program-level MONMSG overseeing the entire procedure.
